Mass Miracles Basketball Club


Please confirm all tryout dates on our website (www.massmiracles.com) as these dates are subject to change based on gym availability.

The registration date for the Mass Miracles Girls Basketball Club to be held at Shea Fitness Center on grounds of former South Weymouth Naval Air Station (now known as Southfield) from 6:30 to 7pm on Monday 3/10/08 for 12U and from 6:30 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday 3/12 for the 16U team.

The tryout for girls born on or after 7/1/94 will be held from 7:00 to 9:00pm on Monday 3/10/08.   The tryout for girls born on or after 7/1/90 will be held from 7:00 to 9:00pm on 3/12/08.  Additional tryouts will be held only if necessary.  

Please note that birth year regulations for AAU participation have changed from calendar year to July 1 to June 30 for each year.

Parents and siblings are not allowed in the gymnasium during tryouts.

 Fees: $25 cost to tryout. If a player makes a team they will be registered with AAU for the 2007/2008 season.

Setup:
The Mass Miracles Basketball Club consists of teams of at least 10 players selected at a given age level. The Miracles are planning on  sponsoring one 16 and under team and one 12 and under team.  Planned team composition may change based on tryouts, mix of players (both in terms of age and assessed ability) and our ability to obtain additional qualified parent/coaching volunteers. At present time, the Miracles have coaches committed for one 16U  team and one 12U team. 

Based on the results of these tryouts the Club will form teams for the spring 2008 season. Players who make a team earn their playing time through ability, effort, attitude and attendance. All playing time beyond that is subject to coaches’ discretion. These teams play in highly competitive AAU sanctioned events.

Schedule:
The teams usually practice once a week starting in late March. On select weeks the teams will hold two practices. Tournament play commences the last weekend in March and ends the first weekend in June. The Miracles’ teams plan to participate in 28 to 36 games over thirteen weekends this spring.  These tournaments are held in various New England communities ranging from Derry, NH to Newport, RI to Springfield, MA. Spring season practice and tournament schedule will be determined after these preliminary tryouts.

Cost:
Please note the costs outlined below are an estimate only and subject to change based on the final composition of the following factors:

Number of teams for the season.
Number of players per squad.
Number of tournaments entered into.

The fee structure charged is designed to cover player registration, tournament fees, gym rental, insurance, equipment and administration. In addition all new players incur the additional cost of uniforms, jackets and gym bags.

The fees for participation in the Mass Miracles Girls Basketball Club as a member of a 16U or 12U team for the 2008 season are estimated to be $500 for new players (assuming the new player purchases a uniform only and not all other club apparel) and $400 for returning players. Please note this fee structure is based on a 10 player per team roster and a 28 game schedule and may be adjusted for number of players per team and actual number of and location of tournaments registered for.

All new players will receive a uniform as part of their club fee.  A player may also purcase bags, warm-ups and club jackets at their discretion.  Estimated cost for all other club apparel is $150.

Notification:
The Club Board will evaluate and assign qualified players to appropriate rosters. Additional teams beyond our core intent for the spring season will be formed only if there are suitable parent/coaching volunteers. The tryout results will be posted on the team website (Massmiracles.com) by Friday March 21st.   If no second tryout is necessary then results will be made available by Sunday March 16th.

If selected for a team, please plan to remit your fee to your daughter’s coach at the first scheduled practice. No player may participate in club practices, scrimmages or games without having remitted their dues for the upcoming season.
